What are the Best Festive Bumble Date Ideas?
Ok so if it’s a first date, odds are you’re not going to want to bring that potential special someone home to meet Mom and Dad over the Christmas dinner.
The key is in the word ‘potential’. If it’s a first date or you’re only a couple of dates in, you don’t know enough about them to really get festive in the traditional sense.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t inject some holiday fun into your Bumble dates!
During the holiday season, unless you’re a total Grinch, you won’t be able to ignore the many reminders of just what time of year it is.
There are the twinkly lights strung up everywhere, the special holiday drinks offered in bars and cafes and of course, the presents and general air of goodwill that seems to soak our very being during December.
So what might make good dates for the season of goodwill? There are lots of options which will give you – and your date, a warm, festive glow and enable you to feel the special spirit of Christmas together.
- Christmas markets – this is a great idea for a first date. Low pressure, out in the open (so Covid friendly) and full of fun. You can browse the stalls together, drink eggnog or festively flavored coffees, eat cookies and pretzels and really get to know one another.
- Christmas movies – if you’re a few dates in and want to get a bit cosier, why not have a Christmas movie date? Both get to choose one movie that summarises their feelings about Christmas. If you choose It’s a Wonderful Life and he chooses Bad Santa, then you’ll know a little more about whether you’re a good match!
- See the Christmas lights – if your local town has an event or just a particularly great spot for festive lights, why not wrap up warm and head out to see the lights together? You can always add on a meal at your favourite restaurant before or after!
- Sledding – tonnes of fun and a great way to get to know one another better! Sledding will bring the color to your cheeks and the excitement and laughs will bring you closer together as a bonus.
- Christmas shopping – if you’ve both still got gifts to buy for your family, why not do it together? You can go for lunch in the middle and talk about whatever you like! Shopping isn’t for everyone we know but it is a great way to see if you get on well with a person. After all, if you can still have fun in the middle of a December rush, then chances are you’re a good match!
Dating is just a way to get to know someone better. The more variation you experience, the better.
Shared experience is what makes friendships and what’s a partner if not a very special friend?
It’s not everyone that can call their partner their friend or indeed, when it comes to Sean Rad, one-time CEO of Tinder, it’s questionable whether his friends can really rely on him at all!
Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of Bumble worked at Tinder during Rad’s reign as CEO and when her relationship with Justin Mateen, fellow Tinder co-founder went wrong, could she turn to Rad who she counted as a friend in addition to a colleague?
No. She couldn’t! Rad didn’t only call her “dramatic” for her complaints about Mateen’s abusive text messages, he also did nothing about the situation she was facing daily at work.
The whole mess resulted in a suit which was settled out of court but Rad kept on doing the wrong thing, later being caught filming colleagues in an attempt to catch them out.
He did lose his position as CEO of Tinder eventually and while Wolfe Herd went on to amass billions with Bumble, he made repeated PR gaffes instead!
